OVERVIEW

When it comes to a ‘Manhatten’ like lifestyle by the water the Dubai Marina is probably it. Covering a large area it is primarily about high-rise living in glistening towers, each trying to trump the other with the luxury label, coming in affordable to more dear levels as far as price is concerned. Those after views of water and boats are definitely in the right place. The artificial canal snakes through the length of the area at a respectable length of 3.6 kilometres. This has created a lot of waterfront living in well over 150 towers. Some are still under construction, but now really far and few in between. Apartment buildings vary widely in quality. It is a question of finding the right one in terms of value for money and what vistas one would require, marina view, open sea view all the way to The Palm Jumeirah or something more simple. To mention but a few we have selected as place worth living or investing in: Al Sahab, Al Seef, Azure, Damac Heights, DEC Tower, Eden Blue, Elite Residences, Emirates Crown, La Riviera, La Reve, MAG 218, Marina Crown, Marina Diamond, Marina Promenade, Marina Quays, Marina Residences, Marina Sail, Marina Terrace, Marina Wharf, Marinascape, Park Island, The Address Maria, The Jewels, The Torch, The Waves, Trident Grand Residences and Yacht Bay.

We would like to give special mention to Emaar’s original six, remaining an all time favourite community, Al Mass, Al Murjan, Fairooz, Mesk, Al Yass and Anbar, the six towers, as well as Park Island & Al Majara to mention some.

The Dubai Marina invites to wander the streets full of live, shopping in the neighbourhood where you will find virtually everything you need or take a stroll along the canal or walk down to the beach.

For a more complete shopping experience the Dubai Marina Mall houses a large Waitrose supermarket among the usual mall outlets and restaurants, as well as a large cinema.

FACILITIES

Most of the apartment buildings would come with all the basic amenities expected, such as pool and gyms.

LIFESTYLE

The Dubai Marina invites to pedestrian lifestyle, relaxing and having fun by the water. Once could become a boat owner and moor it right at the Dubai Yacht Club, hire one for a day out, or simply visit the place for a bite to eat. The marina walk is designed to either go for a leisurely stroll with the family or take a more serious jog along its length. Due to its fame and the fact that the RTA has a ferry station at the Dubai Marina, practical to use as a resident, it of course also attracts quite a few tourists who will want to check out your neighbourhood as well, creating a lively in what is already a cosmopolitan atmosphere. For many simply the fact that they can stare over the water from their balconies is enough of a reason to live here, instilling a sense of calm. JBR adds the beach to the essential mix of living close to the sea. Skydive Dubai adds a sense of adventure other operators offer everything one can imagine in terms of activities on the water. For golf players, the Dubai Marina’s proximity to Emirates Hills, a 10-minute drive diagonally across Sheikh Zayed Road is a major convenience with the Emirates Golf Club and the Montgomerie inviting to a round.

DINING

The Dubai Marina is packed with restaurants and cafés offering all culinary delights imaginable from the simple to the exclusive. JBR alone is a row where one could find oneself a hard time choosing at which table to settle. The many hotels and hotel residences in the area mean that many are licensed as well and nightlife strives in the Dubai Marina. Few in Dubai haven’t been to the original Buddha Bar at Grosvenor House for example.

TRANSPORT

The Dubai Marina is near the exit of Dubai towards Abu Dhabi, but well connected via Sheikh Zayed Road, it takes around 15 minutes to get to Downtown Burj Khalifa for example and taxis are always around.

Dubai Marina has excellent public transport infrastructure, with regular buses, taxis and three tram stations (Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Marina Towers and Dubai Marina). The neighbourhood also has its own metro station called Damac.

SCHOOL

Dubai Marina has great access to a whole range of local schools and nurseries. One of the closest is the Raffles International School. Opened in 2007, Raffles’ South Campus is an authorised school for the Cambridge Curriculum.

For young children there is a whole host of nurseries in and around Dubai Marina, including Marina Village Nursery, Willow Nursery Dubai Marina and Kids Kare Nursery.
